Good morning!
The Easter holiday is the perfect time to try something new. Our favourite scone recipe is easy to follow and only requires 3 ingredients:
- Flour (225g)
-Milk (150ml)
- Butter (50g)
Before you start, make sure your hands are clean as you will be kneading the dough in a minute.
First, combine the flour and butter with your (clean!) fingertips, making sure to keep lots of air in the mixture.
Add the milk gradually and stir using a knife (ask an adult for help) to avoid any lumps.
Add a pinch of salt and sugar.
Knead into a thick dough. Avoid squashing the mixture too hard so your scones stay fluffy.
Wash your hands again!
Cut into circles using a cutter or your hands (this recipe makes 8 scones).
If you have an egg spare, brush a little bit of egg on top with your fingers, otherwise put them straight into the oven at 220 degrees celsius for 10 minutes (or until crunchy on the outside and doughy on the inside!
Activities: Challenge - how much flour and milk would you need for 16 scones?
Challenge 2 - can you write an instruction text like the one above using a general introduction and instructions with imperative verbs (e.g. add, cut, knead, combine, clean)
